Leading creative, technical teams to build transformative digital products.

Hello, I'm Michael.

I discovered HTML in 1996 and was hooked. Over my 20+ year career, I’ve helped millions through digital creation.

I now use that experience to steer digital strategy at Lincoln Loop. My favorite work is building long-term partnerships and leading teams to deliver mission-critical products.

I also co-run a small agency focused on community experiences, bringing people together and making the world a little brighter.

A curious, lifelong learner, I’ve always been fascinated by computing and science. I enjoy learning French, am an avid meditator, love cassette futurism, and have spent too many hours playing Bethesda video games.

Featured Work

Some projects stand out. Much of my work involves shaping new solutions or reimagining legacy products. These efforts focus on addressing critical pain points or seizing extraordinary opportunities.

Below is a small selection of my most impactful work–projects that were uniquely challenging or had the greatest impact.

NaturalGasIntel.com redesign & re-platform

I led the re-platforming of NaturalGasIntel.com from PHP to a modern Python CMS, featuring refreshed branding and improved UX. The new solution enhanced content discovery, streamlined subscription purchasing, and significantly improved mobile usability.

I architected a flexible build system and a well-documented design system, empowering both technical and marketing teams to quickly develop new content variations. A significant focus was ensuring the editorial process remained efficient, allowing content creators to publish new articles quickly and accurately.

NGI received glowing customer feedback. The new platform reduced error rates and provided NGI with a stronger foundation to build new products.

MDN Plus & redesign

My team was tasked with building the first paid subscription functionality for Mozilla’s redesigned MDN platform, later inheriting the entire frontend implementation. I led five developers to rebuild key components from scratch, using React, TypeScript, and modern accessibility standards. This included creating theming systems for dark, light, and high contrast modes, and implementing reusable, accessible UI elements.

The result was a scalable, polished frontend that supported the launch of MDN Plus, enabling new revenue streams for Mozilla.

StepZen marketing & product design

I partnered with StepZen, a GraphQL startup, to design and build their go-to-market website. Post-launch, I went on to design and build various features, including onboarding workflows, documentation systems, a code translation tool, and a GraphQL API configurator.

I established frontend standards, implemented component libraries, and documented processes to empower content editors. Throughout the project, I worked as both a full-stack developer and designer, translating complex GraphQL concepts into accessible, user-friendly interfaces.

StepZen was acquired by IBM in 2023.

ARC.platform

I led a team of eight to fully realize Wharton Interactive’s ambitious vision for an education simulation-based gaming platform, ARC.platform, teaching executive-level skills like leadership and entrepreneurship.

Over several years, I architected and designed gameplay experiences, player onboarding, and complex administrative systems to support game operations. In addition to addressing ARC.platform's inherent complexity, I ensured a smooth delivery cadence while leading my team remotely during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARC.platform continues to be used worldwide by students and serves as both a marketing and educational tool for Wharton Interactive.

Planned Parenthood redesign & re-platform

I led a team of eight developers to migrate Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s (PPFA) websites to a modern CMS. Over three years, we rebuilt the site and key applications, including health center search and appointment booking, while overcoming challenges in accessibility, performance, and content management.

I co-architected a multilingual CMS, built a design system, and developed a theming system for over 100 sub-sites. The initial redesign launched in under 16 months, and my architecture remains the foundation of PPFA’s web presence.

The PPFA platform helps millions of people access health care and health related information every month.
